
Ensemble Una S tella
" Ad Una Stella" is the mysterious and nocturnal title of a romance for voice and piano by Giuseppe VERDI on a poem by Andrea MAFFEI, title which inspired the name of "the Una Stella ensemble". The artistic direction is jointly provided by Anne Garance FABRE GARRUS and Philippe SPINOSI.
L'Ensemble Una Stella is with variable geometry playing on old or modern instruments, according to various musical projects. It was created in 2007, by Philippe SPINOSI, and Anne Garance FABRE dit GARRUS, who decided to bring together "musicians-friends" around the project, from the baroque movement and encountered over the various productions of other prestigious ensembles in which they all played.
The project is therefore based as much on human affinity as on the great musical experience of all its members.
If the original cradle is baroque, it allows itself to forays in multiple musical directions and seeks to build as many bridges as possible towards other genres and disciplines. Thus in 2012, a working residency at the Grand Théâtre de Provence in Aix, brought them together with the company 2T3Mdanse, for a reflection on the contemporary hip-hop choreography of baroque music.
Their first CD, with Argentinian soprano Veronica CANGEMI (classical naive) follows this desire for openness, mixing great arias from Italian baroque opera, with music by Astor Piazzolla and Villa-Lobos.
The directory. ... Starting out from 17th and 18th century Italian music, the ensemble gradually expanded its concert programs to early music from southern Europe and the Mediterranean.
In 2021, Una Stella will focus on Spanish baroque music, both in the sacred domain and in opera.
